Error Of ‘Your Preference Cannot Be Read’ In Google Chrome

This error message doesn’t actually disrupt your activities in Google Chrome. But, it can be annoying when it keeps coming up while opening your browser.

The cause of this error is due to lack of  user not granted the permission to read preferences from the location of the ‘User Data’  folder in the Google Chrome. Either you run Google Chrome browser as an Administrator to have such permission granted each time you experience the error or follow the concise instructions below to forestall it.

STEP 1: Press Windows + R key to open ‘Run’ dialog.

STEP 2: Type or copy and paste  Users%username%AppDataLocalGoogleChrome into ‘Run’  dialog and click on ‘OK’ to continue.

STEP 3: Right-click on ‘User Data’ folder and select ‘Properties’ from the drop-down menu.

STEP 4:  Click on ‘Security’ tab and next click on ‘Advanced’ to continue.

STEP 5: Select the little box close to ‘Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable entries from this object’ below the dialog, click on ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’ to close it.

STEP 6:Click on ‘OK’ to close the ‘User data Properties’ .
